There's a real medical condition known as body identity integration disorder. This is where people don't feel comfortable with a limb, even though biologically the limb is completely healthy. They will tell you its foreign to them and they with to have it removed in order to feel complete. They even try to crush their leg or stick a hand in dry ice to amputate it them selves. In such cases, we don't tell them modifying their body id the correct choice; it is their feelings and their IDENTITY that is messed up.

What's the difference between a person wishing to feel comfortable in a body by removing a healthy appendage like a hand or leg against a person wishing to remove a healthy appendage like breasts or a piece of genitalia? That's the more parallel analogy.Lenny Espositohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04064209669748618955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6805190.post-66072915902025266872015-11-19T19:49:13.492-08:002015-11-19T19:49:13.492-08:00Biology is determined on the genetic level and is ...Biology is determined on the genetic level and is more or less set in stone, short of genetic manipulation in the womb. IDENTITY however, isnt. The brain is prone to develop along different lines than what the body does, and on occasion, you end up with whatis basically a female brain in a male body. I dont claim to fully understand the feeling, not being trans, but if changing your sex makes you comfortable in your own skin, who cares? You wouldnt deny a paraplegic a pair of new legs. Or more fittingly, a pair of legs he was born without.H.Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01733182401717655231noreply@blogger.com
